Struggling with intrusive thoughts, constant doubt, or feeling like you need to “figure something out” before you can move on?
OCD often shows up as unwanted thoughts, images, or urges that feel distressing, confusing, or even shameful. You might find yourself checking, overthinking, seeking reassurance, or trying to get certainty about something that never quite feels resolved.
Over time, this can become exhausting. It can affect your ability to focus, enjoy time with others, or feel present in your daily life.
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and effective treatment is available.
At Blooming Minds, we specialize in treating OCD using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard, evidence-based treatment for OCD, as well as Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (I-CBT). We offer both intensive and non-intensive treatment options depending on your needs.

Types of OCD
Contamination
Fear of germs, illness, or feeling “unclean.” This may involve excessive handwashing, cleaning, avoiding certain places or people, or difficulty feeling fully “clean” even after washing.
Checking
Repeatedly going back to make sure things are done “properly,” such as checking doors, appliances, or whether you may have made a mistake. Even after checking, it often doesn’t feel fully resolved.
Harm
Unwanted thoughts or fears about causing harm to yourself or others, even though you have no intention of doing so. This can lead to avoidance, mental checking, or seeking reassurance to feel certain you are safe.
Sexual Orientation
Intrusive doubts or fears about your sexual orientation that feel distressing and confusing. This often involves mental checking, comparing, or trying to “figure it out” with certainty.
Pedophilia
Distressing, unwanted thoughts or fears about being attracted to children, which go against your values. These thoughts can feel alarming and may lead to avoidance, checking, or reassurance-seeking.
Relationship OCD (ROCD)
Ongoing doubt about your relationship or your feelings toward your partner. You may find yourself constantly questioning, analyzing, or needing reassurance about whether the relationship is “right.”
Scrupulosity (Religious or Moral OCD)
Excessive concern about doing the “right” thing morally or religiously. This can involve fear of sinning, being a bad person, or not following rules perfectly, leading to repeated checking, confessing, or seeking reassurance.
Responsibility
A strong sense that you are responsible for preventing harm or negative outcomes. You may feel the need to take extra steps, check repeatedly, or mentally review situations to make sure nothing bad will happen.
Perfectionism
A need for things to feel “just right” or done perfectly. This can involve repeating actions, organizing, or mentally reviewing until things feel complete, even when you logically know they are fine.
Magical Thinking
Belief that certain thoughts, actions, or patterns can influence outcomes in unrealistic ways. This may include needing to do things in a specific order, avoid certain numbers, or perform actions to prevent something bad from happening.
Intrusive Thoughts
Unwanted, distressing thoughts, images, or urges that seem to come out of nowhere and don’t reflect who you are. These thoughts can feel intense and sticky, often leading to attempts to neutralize or make sense of them.
People often experience more than one of these patterns, and symptoms can overlap or change over time.
